Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM filed December 17, 2025
NHTSA complaint #2158005 (ODI reference 11705492) concerns a 2023 CHEVROLET TAHOE and was filed on December 17, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on December 16, 2025. The report was geocoded to Massachusetts based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as electrical system, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET TAHOE cohort independently describe similar electrical system failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2023 CHEVROLET TAHOE shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
The car was parked totally normal, went into a store, then came out to start it and when it was put in drive every light on the dash came on and gave a warning for âbrake system failure top speed 43 mphâ âservice traction controlâ âservice escâ âservice steering column lockâ âservice brake pad monitorâ âtrailer brakes disabled service requiredâ. Shut the vehicle off and restarted with same results. Brakes were inoperable and almost hit the car parked in front of me. Let the car shut down for a couple hours came back and started it and now everything acts normal except there is a Check engine light. Havenât read the codes yet but am making an appointment at the dealer for warranty work.
