The 2012NISSANJUKE carries 109 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 4 crashes, 0 fires, 5 injuries, and 0 fatalities. Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2012 JUKE is engine with 29 filings, followed by fuel/propulsion system (15) and electrical system (14). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 4 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 54 investigation files overlapping the 2012 JUKE, and 5 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2011-2012 Nissan Juke vehicles previously remedied under recall 12V-069. During that recall remedy, the fuel pressure sensor may not have been properly tightened, potentially causing the sensor to loosen and leak fuel.

SRS AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES CONTINUOUSLY. STARTED ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO (MARCH 2024) TOOK CAR TO REPAIR SHOP, STATED OCS CONTROL UNIT AND PASSENGER OCCUPANT SENSORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. TOOK TO A NISSAN DEALER FOR 2ND OPINION. STATED TODAY THEY WILL REPLACE OCS CONTROL UNIT & PASSENGER OCCUPANT SENSORS. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE COVERED BY A RECALL EVENT?
Timing chain needs replacement however the timing chain was already replaced in 2014 under Nissan recall NTB14-030c campaign P4213. This car has 54,000 miles on it and has been serviced at Nissan dealerships according to the Nissan service schedule. There is no reason for this part to need replacing again after so few miles unless the Nissan part was bad, there is an underlying manufacturing issue with the vehicle or the recall replacement was done incorrectly. Nissan Consumer Affairs refuses to assist because the car is out of warranty.
I have a 2012 Nissan Juke and every one of the door lock actuators has had to be replaced. The problems started early on, but the door locks intermittently fail when using the key fob or external door button. Using the internal door lock button is more likely to work even when the key fob and external button fail. Because the failures are intermittent, it is hard to get this diagnosed and replaced at the dealerships. I have had to take the car to the dealership many times, pay a $200 diagnostic fee and then sometimes they replace the door actuator and sometimes do not. Over the past 4 years I have replaced 3 of 4 door actuators and will be replacing the 4th door actuator now. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs regarding the issue, as it is a known issue, but they refused to assist because the car is no longer under warranty.
The car smelling of burning and is not safe to drive.
Sept 2022 i bought my 2012 Nissan Juke from Jeff Wylerâs Nissan King AutoMall. April 23 the left, lower ball joint/axle (drivers side) broke. Needed fixed. Almost $2,000. I specifically asked them to check right sided ball joint/axle. Oh itâs fine. We checked it out and itâs all good. Less than 3 months later-the right sided axle and ball joint broke. It only took over 6 weeks and 3 different places (discount tires, tire discounters and Jeff Wylerâs dealership) to figure out what was wrong with my vehicle at this time. This time it cost me more (but since jeff wylers mechanics fix things and then jack up the price by $800) it actually cost me $1550 to fix it this time.I could have died. On both occasions and now it feels like the backend of my juke is shaking apart. Iâm scared to death to drive my vehicle and Iâve told Jeff Wyler I think they sold me an unsafe vehicle and I am now terrified to drive it. But itâs the only car we have in our family and I canât afford to

Belt in the engine snapped made the car overheat leak oil and radiator fluid. Mechanic said there was a recal for this issue.
The timing chain exploded as noted in the service bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/SB-10055923-4231.pdf Nissan is claiming that this model/VIN is not covered under this bulletin when it clearly is.

Recently a strong gas smell in cabin after starting engine for the third time. After noticing the smell of gasoline a faulty fuel pressure sensor was serviced 12/2/2015. No charge at Puente Hills Nissan. Smell of gasoline again. $782.56 paid to Cerritos Nissan on 1/25/19. Although 2012 Nissan Jukes had a factory recall due to gasoline smell, I was told that my VIN number was not included.
