Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM filed December 15, 2025

NHTSA complaint #2157340 (ODI reference 11705065) concerns a 2022 GMC SIERRA 1500 and was filed on December 15, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on November 15, 2025. The report was geocoded to Ohio based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as fuel/propulsion system, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same GMC SIERRA 1500 cohort independently describe similar fuel/propulsion system failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

My truck went into "limp" mode and had very little power. It was towed to the dealership where they diagnosed the issue as a bad solenoid causing the engine misfires. The solenoid was replaced, but the issue was not fixed. Now the dealership is stating the engine has bent lifters and the repairs will not be covered under the ongoing massive engine recall. The vehicle had the pico test on 9/17 and it "passed", but less than 3k miles later and the engine failed. This is a clear safety issue and well known by NHTSA and GM. Now I'm negotiating with the dealership to cover repairs and my truck has been gone nearly a month.
