Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM filed July 23, 2025

NHTSA complaint #2113137 (ODI reference 11675618) concerns a 2022 GMC SIERRA 1500 and was filed on July 23, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on April 22, 2025. The report was geocoded to Texas based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as fuel/propulsion system, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same GMC SIERRA 1500 cohort independently describe similar fuel/propulsion system failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2022 GMC SIERRA 1500 shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.

Complaint Description

Unloaded my Denali at huge loss with 30,000 miles because gm wouldn’t fix recall after many times in shop, broke down on freeway, and need to travel to Canada on business. Canada won’t allow vehicles with open safety recalls to enter country even though im pretty sure engine was MADE in Canada. Gm corporate office told me there’s nothing they can do. While in shop for 4 days of testing i watched vehicle on app, never started, moved, just put out back for 4 days then told absolutely nothing. Just wanted fair trade in for diesel. Truck looked identical to brand new on lot, 10/10 except engine recall. Gm promised to reimburse rental fees when broke down a week or so, submitted documents to Gm, nothing recieved. Bought ram instead for obvious reasons. Is there a lemon law, class action, agency etc that can help compensate for losses? The public should be warned!
