NHTSA complaint #2037818 (ODI reference 11623520) concerns a 2013 FORD F-150 and was filed on November 4, 2024. The owner reports the failure occurred on November 4, 2024. The vehicle had 89,000 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to Indiana based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:master cylinder, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD F-150 cohort independently describe similar service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:master cylinder failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond as intended. The brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact shifted the vehicle into neutral and coasted to the side of the road to stop the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the brake master cylinder had no brake fluid. The contact added brake fluid to the brake master cylinder and restarted the vehicle and resumed normal driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the brake master cylinder had no brake fluid, and that the brake fluid had leaked into the brake booster, causing the brake master cylinder and brake booster to fail. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included
