NHTSA Complaint about FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING filed September 2, 2024

NHTSA complaint #2021381 (ODI reference 11612139) concerns a 2014 RAM 1500 and was filed on September 2, 2024. The owner reports the failure occurred on March 1, 2024. The report was geocoded to Georgia based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same RAM 1500 cohort independently describe similar forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. This has happened a few times. 4) My truck is large and heavy so it could really do some damage to other cars and endanger lives. I don’t drive it much for this reason causing me a lot of inconvenience. 5) The dealership and 2 local car repair shops scanned the problem. A lot of codes popped up - including the ABS Module and tire sensors. They said the module was unavailable and under review. They also said tracking down all the causes and completely resolving them would be trial and error as they replac
