APPROXIMATELY 4 SECONDS AFTER RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND AND THEN SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM ELLIS VOLKSWAGEN (5901 PEACH TREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, CHAMPLEE, GA) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. AFTER THE THIRD VISIT TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME FAILURE, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE TIMING FAILURE DUE TO LOW QUALITY FUEL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO USE PREMIUM FUEL TO RECTIFY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE OWNER'S MANUAL INSTRUCTED THEM TO USE REGULAR FUEL ONLY. I AM SKEPTICAL THIS WAS JUST A SOFTWARE ISSUE GIVEN ALL THE REPORTS I HAVE READ OF OTHER VW DRIVERS HAVING THIS SAME EPC AND SHUDDERING ISSUE AND THEY HAVE LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND SOMETIMES LOST ALL POWER AND BREAKING ABILITY ON THE HIGHWAY.
