VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MINI VANS BUILT WITH 3.3L AND 3.8L ENGINES HAVE FUEL RAILS WITH NITROLE RUBBER O-RING SEALS THAT CAN DEGRADE OVER TIME. FUEL LEAKAGE FROM THE UNDERHOOD FUEL INJECTION FUEL RAIL COULD RESULT, INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD OF A VEHICLE FIRE.

ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2005, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, IN THE REAR NEAR THE SPEAKER COMPARTMENT. LUCKILY THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ITSELF AND NO FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE SPEAKER AND MELTING OF WIRES AROUND SPEAKER. NO INJURIES. INVESTIGATED VEHICLE FIRES ON SIMILAR VEHICLES AND FOUND THE 2001 AND 2002 CHRYSLER/DODGE MINIVANS WERE RECALLED FOR FIRE STEMMING FROM A MANUFAC
