Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. WHILE DRIVING BACK TO WORK FROM LUNCH IN FEBRUARY 2005, I HEARD A LOUD BOOM NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND THE VAN QUIT. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VAN AND ALL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT. THE REPAIRMAN SAID THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL ON THE TRANSMISSION HAD BLOWN OUT. HE SAID A IT HAD BLOWN A HOLE IN THE CASE. HE SAID THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THE CHRYSLER VEHICLES. HE SEE THIS OFTEN. I HAD TO PAY 1784.58 TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. I FIRST WENT BACK TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS SINCE I WAS TOLD THIS HAPPENS OFTEN. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THIS AT NO CHARGE TO ME. THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME ABOUT 2400.00 DOLLARS. THE VEHICLE HAD 79189 MILES AT THE TIME. I SPOKE TO SOMEONE AT THE NHTSA AND WAS TOLD THE VEHICLES DOESN'T HAVE A HIGH RATIO OF REPORTS FILED. SINCE IT DIDN'T SEEM TO ME ANYTHING WOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS I WAITED TO FILE THIS REPORT. ALTHOUGH WHEN I FIRST SPOKE

OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS I'VE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR MINI-VAN. WHILE I HAD MY TRUCK AT THE MECHANICS LAST WEEK, I POPPED THE HOOD TO OUR VAN AND HAD HIM TAKE A LOOK AT IT. HIS RESPONSE TO WHAT HE SAW WAS TERRIFYING! THE TOWER THAT SUPPORTS THE STRUT ON THE FRONT/DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VAN IS COMPLETELY RUSTED. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, THE AUTO BODY SHOP PERSON WE CONSULTED, AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS IS NOT NORMAL DETERIORATION FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD. WE WERE TOLD THAT CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING TO ASSIST US IN THE PROBLEM BECAUSE OUR VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY, ALTHOUGH THEY ALSO AGREED THAT IT WAS NOT TYPICAL FOR A VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. RIGHT NOW WE'RE A FAMILY OF 5 WITH ONE INCOME AND CANNOT AFFORD A $1200+ REPAIR TO A VEHICLE THAT WAS APPARENTLY FLAWED FROM THE GET-GO.*AK
