PASSENGER IN 1999 NISSAN QUEST VAN. AT 40MPH, A CAR CUT US OFF RESULTING IN HEAD ON COLLISION. AIRBAGS ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATES THAT ON SATURDAY 10, 2005 WHILE DRIVING HIS VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT LOOKED AS IF IT STARTED FROM THE COOLANT FAN. THE DAMAGE $500-1000. THE CONTACT'S WIFE SMELLED SMOKE AND DROVE TO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVING UNUSUAL BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THE COOLING SYSTEM DID NOT HAVE A LEAK, BUT THE FAN MELTED BECAUSE THAT WAS WHERE THE FIRE STARTED. HE WAS UNSURE OF WHY THE FAN CAUGHT ON FIRE,
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN A 45 MPH ZONE. A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP DUE TO ANOTHER MOTORIST IN FRONT OF IT WAS TURNING LEFT AND SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND COULD NOT STOP IN TIME AND SHE REAR ENDED THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF HER. NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED IN THE 1999 NISSAN QUEST. WE HAVE CONTACTED OUR INSURANCE COMPANY (AMERICAN FAMILY) AND THE ADJUSTER SADI THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULDN'T HAVE DEPLOYED DUE THE CRASH OF THE VEHICLE AND THE WAY IT HIT. MY WIFE S

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT 30 MPH CONSUMER PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL IT CAME TO REST ON ANOTHER VEHICLE. DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER BLEW OFF THE BRAKE BOOSTER. *AK

1999 NISSAN QUEST SE - I CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AFTER HEARING A TAPPING/CLACKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE & HAVING THE VAN HESITATE AT TIMES. THE OEM PLATINUM PLUGS ARE RATED FOR 100K MILES & THE VAN HAS 82K MILES. I HAD DIFFICULTY REMOVING ONE OF THE PLUGS. AFTER THE PLUG JAMMED I LOOKED IN THE "TUBE" WHERE YOU INSERT THE PLUG LOOKING FOR ANYTHING BLOCKING THE PLUG EXTRACTION. AFTER I REMOVED THE PLUG THE THREADS SHOWED NO SIGNS OF STRIPPING. I LOOKED IN THE "TUBE" AGAIN & STILL COULD NOT SEE AN

VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WITHOUT WARNING, CAUGHT ON FIRE. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. FIREFIGHTERS STATED THAT FIRE WAS CAUSED BY FRICTION FROM BRAKE LINES. DEALERSHIP FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF DEFECT. CONSUMER STATED THAT BEFORE THE FIRE THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL IN THE BRAKE LINES. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. CONSUMER IS REQUESTING VEHICLE BE REPLACED, HOWEVER DEALERSHIP IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *TT

WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ACTIVATED, IT DOES NOT ALWAYS TURN OFF WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED OR CANCEL SWITCH IS PUSHED. IF I HAVE CRUISE SET AT 65 AND APPROACH AND INTERSECTION OR OBJECT IN THE ROAD OR LOWER SPEED ZONE, AND APPLY THE BRAKES BUT THEN PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO CONTINUE AT A LOWER SPEED (45), THE ACCELERATOR WILL GO DOWN ON ITS OWN AND THE VAN WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN TILL IT HITS THE 65 MPH THAT WAS ORIGINALLY SET ON THE CRUISE.
