The 2021NISSANNV200 carries 6 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2021 NV200 is air bags with 2 filings, followed by fuel/propulsion system (2) and forward collision avoidance: adaptive cruise control (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 1 active recall campaign, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 54 investigation files overlapping the 2021 NV200, and 5 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. we own a Nissan NV 200 that was getting an air bag error light on the dashboard. We took it to a local nissan dealership in Dayton NJ who said the airbag sensor under the passenger front seat was damaged and the seat will get stuck because since it came loose from it support it looks like it got stuck int he seats track. Nissan is saying the driver did this but it is protected by a drawer and two other sensor which are under the seat and would have also been damaged if this were the case. This is clearly a safety issue as now none of the airbags work and the driver can not safely drive the vehicle
