Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2017 NV200 is air bags with 3 filings, followed by fuel/propulsion system (2) and unknown or other (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 2 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 54 investigation files overlapping the 2017 NV200, and 5 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2021 NV200 Van, 2014-2017, 2019 NV200 Taxi, and 2015-2018 Chevrolet City Express vehicles. The Fuel Tank Temperature (FTT) sensor harness may have been incorrectly routed, damaging wires and causing a short circuit in the fuel pump fuse.
I understand there is a safety recall on other Nissan NV200's with regard to the ignition system. Where my van is not specifically listed in the recall, I have issues with the ignition switch turning and have to juggle it to get it into the start position. It does not instill confidence that I may not have a similar issue with my vehicl eand maybe it was missed in the recall batch? I called my local Nissan service department and they said they would need a half to full day to diagnose it and it would cost me $200. Are there then , good will considerations for getting this taken care of or included in the recall? I do not want to have a problem in the future but don't think I should have to pay to have it checked out and really don't have the extra money. It is detrimental as well to have a recall notice pop up on Kelly Blue Book when it is used by dealerships and others to determine value of the vehicle, even if this particular vin was not included. This has been an ongoing issue with

The passenger side airbag deployed when I shut the door. My son was sitting in the seat. This incident could have been very harmful to my son. We had just had the airbag sensor repaired after waiting 6 months for it to arrive on back order. It was also replaced in 2021 under warranty, and in 2017 under a recall. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan NV200. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light was illuminated, and a message was displayed indicating that the passenger's side air bag was off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the occupant classification sensor. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V244000 (Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.

We have a fleet of eighteen NV200s. The one that was listed was just repaired on 11/20/23. It had issues with the occupant air bag system. The issues with the air bag system are happening in other NV200s that we own. I believe there is a defect in these vans that could lead to them not operate as designed, causing injury or death. The other air bag issues we have had in the NV200s, not including the one in this report, happened on 5/18/23, 5/19/23, 9/28/23, and in 10/20/21. I have the invoices for all repairs of each of these vans if needed.
Vehicle keeps running out of gas, but the dash states there is a certain amount of gas before empty. Vehicle cutting off on express way is not safe. Recently found out that Nissan has a service bulletin about this issue.
