My wife parked the car in the garage and we noticed a puddle of gas below the car. After determining that we had a real issue we had it towed to an independent service provider. After inspection by the mechanic he noted that the plastic retainer clip on the fuel pump flange (Jaguar Part C2P24406) was broken allowing the fuel line to come out of the fuel pump/filter flange (see photo) and just pumped gas onto the cars undercarriage and ground. Luckily, this must have happened right before she came home. In the initial diagnosis of the problem by me I ended up starting the car in the garage and it just pumped about a gallon of gas onto the garage floor. By the way, just opening the driver's door activates the fuel pump -- so without even starting the car it would pump gas onto the car/garage floor. I was extremely worried that there would be a fire or explosion (possibly by the hot water heater in the garage igniting the fumes). After the mechanic informed me of the problem, I sear
WHEN PASSENGER IS SEATED IN PASSENGER SEAT, THE 'PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT SPORATICALLY ILLUMINATES. THIS MEANS THAT THE PASSENGER IS NOT PROTECTED BY AIRBAGS IF A COLLISION OCCURS. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR NOT. THIS MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN VERIFIED BY JAGUAR DEALER.
