WHEN ATTEMPTING ACCELERATE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE DUE TO THE THROTTLE PLATE BEING STUCK. *TS THE IDLE PLATE BECAME STUCK AT IDLE AND AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE MOVED VERY SLOWLY. THIS WAS THE SIXTH TIME THIS HAPPENED. EACH TIME THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. AFTER THE FIFTH INCIDENT THE DEALER NO LONGER ACCEPTED FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON BEHALF OF JAGUAR. THEY TRIED TO CONVINCE THE CONSUMER THAT A STICKING THROTTLE WAS A NORMAL THE CONDITION THAT REQUIRED PERIODIC MAINTENANCE EVERY 10000 MILES. *NM

MY NAME IS [XXX]. I AM TAKING MY CAR IN TOMORROW (2/19/04) TO HAVE THE THROTTLE POST(?) REPLACED. THEY (THE SERVICE PEOPLE) HAVE ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS NORMAL WITH AGE. THE PROBLEM IS THE ACCELERATOR STICKS AT VARIOUS POSITIONS AND MAKES THE CAR EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE PRICE QUOTE WAS $650. I ASKED IF JAGUAR COVERED THIS AND WAS TOLD NO, IT IS NORMAL WEAR. I FIND THAT HARD TO ACCEPT GIVEN ALL THE RECALLS OVER LESS IMPORTANT ITEMS. I BELIEVE IF THEY (THE SERVICE PEOPLE) KNOW THIS, IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE YOU COMMENT ON THIS. THE RIGHT ANSWER FROM YOU WOULD BE: WE WILL COVER THE COSTS BECAUSE WE WOULD PREFER TO HAVE YOU AS A HAPPY AND ALIVE CUSTOMER RATHER THAN ANY OTHER OPTION.
