New Car Assessment Program

The 2011JAGUARXJ carries 27 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 7 crashes, 0 fires, 7 injuries, and 0 fatalities. For crash performance, NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program gave this cohort an overall Not Rated/5 rating, with Not Rated/5 front crash, Not Rated/5 side crash, and Not Rated/5 rollover scores derived from standardized barrier and dynamic tests.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2011 XJ is engine with 6 filings, followed by electrical system (5) and air bags (3). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 2 investigation files overlapping the 2011 XJ. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I was driving through Kroger shopping center and I drove between two cars and my car suddenly accelerated and I had to stand on the brakes to avoid hitting a man loading groceries into his car. This was a frightening experience, which I'm afraid will happen again and I won't be so luck.I purchased the car Oct 14 2022 and supposedly have a power train warranty after 1 month and 1000 miles. My name is Craig Donahue, email:Travisafb1982@yahoo.com/cell# 478-787-2446 /address:135 Wexford ct macon.ga 31210 (please help, before someone dies unnecessary!

I have a 2011 Jaguar XJL Supercharged with 65,000 miles that has a knocking noise and is in restricted performance mode. The timing chain and tensioner were replaced by a shop, but that did not fix the issue and I’ve been told there is internal engine damage. The internal engine damage has not been identified. The car itself is in excellent shape, but I don’t know how to proceed to address the internal engine damage as the shop is recommending replacing the engine with a used engine from the salvage yard, but that concerns me as I don’t know the history of the engine from the salvage yard. I've done some research and apparently this is a common issue. Does anyone have any insight on how to proceed with an Arizona recall as this is not normal? Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
