THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD, AND THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE.*JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2000 JAGUAR S-TYPE IN APRIL OF 2000. SINCE THAT TIME, I 'VE HAD RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. JAGUAR REPLACED THE ORIGINAL TRANS. WITH A NEW ONE AT 8801 MILES. SINCE THAT TIME, THE TRANS HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WHEN ON A MODERATE SLOPE, WILL ROLL BACK UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN THE TRANS. IS ENGAGED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. JAGUAR STATED AT FIRST THIS IS NORMAL UNTIL A REPRESENTATIVE FLEW OUT TO DISCLOSE THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THE CAR. THEY WOULD LIKE FOR A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER TO LOOK AT CAR TO SEE IF HE CAN REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I'VE BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO DEALERSHIP WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. I WOULD LIKE YOU TO CHECK ON THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED! ALSO, THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME A RECEIPT FOR WORK THEY DID ON CAR ON APRIL 2, 2002. SERVICE MANAGER STATED HE COULDN'T BECAUSE HE HAD TO PROTECT DEALERSHIP.
WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT I WAS HIT BY AN SUV ON THE DRIVER SIDE WHOLE OF DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AS WELL AS REAR LEFT DOOR TOTALLY CAVED IN. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ALL OF THE 3 PASSENGERS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS.*AK
JAGUAR, XJ8L, 2000 MODEL; VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. WHILE IN REVERSE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP VEHICLE AND IT ENDED UP HITTING TWO OTHER VEHICLES. VEHICLE HAS ACCELERATED 12 TIMES IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, RPMS WENT UP AND ENGINE REVVED. DEALER CAN NOT FIND CAUSE. *AK *TT

JAG HIT BY OTHER VEHICLE IN LEFT REAR DOOR CAUSING JAG TO SPIN 180 DEGREES AND CROSS OVER TO OTHER SIDE OF ROAD AND BROADSIDE A LARGE TREE. THIS WAS A DIRECT HIT ON THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR CAUSING DOOR TO INTRUDE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE TREE ALSO INTRUDED INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND THE IMPACT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE ROOF AND SUBFRAME TO BUCKLE SUBSTANTIALLY ON THAT SIDE. THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ACCORDING TO PUBLISHED REPORTS, SIDE AIRBAGS ARE DESIGNED TO DEPLOY ON SIDE IMPACT STARTING AT SPEEDS OF 10-16 MPH. I HAVE PHOTOS OF CAR, AND FOR THE TIME BEING, REPAIR HAS NOT STARTED YET. MODEL TYPE, O-RING IN TRANSMISSION WAS INPROPERLY PLACED OR SEALED, CAUSING FLUID TO CAVITATE AND LOCK UP TORQUE CONVERTER WHICH WOULD NOT RELEASE. THEN CAUSING VEHICLE TO STALL AT LOW SPEEDS AND LOSE ALL POWER.MANUFACTURE HAS RELEASED TSB. *AK
