The 1994FORDPICKUP carries 9 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 1 crash, 2 fires, 1 injury, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 1994 PICKUP is seat belts:front:buckle assembly with 1 filings, followed by tires:tread/belt (1) and unknown or other (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 5 investigation files overlapping the 1994 PICKUP. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

REAR CAB BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I LOST MY TURN SIGNALS AND THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE STATION TO REPLACE THE BULB IN THE REAR CAB BREAK LIGHT THE SERVICE ATTENDANTS FOUND THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE REAR CAB BREAK ASSEMBLY BLACK AND MELTED. THEY REMOVED THE OTHER 2 LIGHT BULBS AND WOULD NOT PUT ANY NEW ONES IN, STATING THAT I WAS LUCKY MY TRUCK HAD NOT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THEY SUGGESTED A POSSIBLE WIRE SHORTAGE. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP IN FINDING OUT IF THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHER FORDS AND IS THERE A RECALL THAT I AM NOT AWARE OF. IN REGARDS TO MY FIRESTONE TIRES, AFTER RECEIVING A PHONE CALL FROM DAVID LAHGJHR AND DISCUSSING THE PROBLEMS AND THE NHSTA ADVISORY LIST I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE PLACE THAT I HAD ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE TIRES TO HAVE THEM REPLACED UNDER THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" PLAN WITH FIRESTONE. FIRESTONE SAID NO! I HAVE THE WRONG SIZE. WHEN I FIRST TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION THEY STATED ON MY FORM THAT
