DT: THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V170000 CONCERNING VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: CRUISE CONTROL. BEFORE SHE COULD HAVE RECALL REPAIRS DONE SHE HAD TO GO OUT OF TOWN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK. THE CONTACT DROVE THE TRUCK OVER THE BORDER INTO MEXICA WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED. BECAUSE OF THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGES IT COULD NOT BE HAULED BACK TO THE UNITED STATES. ENCLOSED A POLICE REPORT FROM THE SCENER. ALSO HAS PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE. *AK

CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS, THE SWITCH CRACKED AND SMELLED LIKE SMOKE. NLM *SLC
WHEN FILLING VEHICLE WITH FUEL FUEL BYPASS TO SECOND TANK CAUSES AN OVERFLOW WHICH RESULTS IN A FUEL LEAKAGE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER NOTEDTHAT MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 93S68 DEALT WITH SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL DUE TO VIN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
REAR CAB BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I LOST MY TURN SIGNALS AND THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE STATION TO REPLACE THE BULB IN THE REAR CAB BREAK LIGHT THE SERVICE ATTENDANTS FOUND THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE REAR CAB BREAK ASSEMBLY BLACK AND MELTED. THEY REMOVED THE OTHER 2 LIGHT BULBS AND WOULD NOT PUT ANY NEW ONES IN, STATING THAT I WAS LUCKY MY TRUCK HAD NOT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THEY SUGGESTED A POSSIBLE WIRE SHORTAGE. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP IN FINDING OUT IF THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHER FORDS AND IS THERE A RECALL THAT I AM NOT AWARE OF. IN REGARDS TO MY FIRESTONE TIRES, AFTER RECEIVING A PHONE CALL FROM DAVID LAHGJHR AND DISCUSSING THE PROBLEMS AND THE NHSTA ADVISORY LIST I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE PLACE THAT I HAD ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE TIRES TO HAVE THEM REPLACED UNDER THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" PLAN WITH FIRESTONE. FIRESTONE SAID NO! I HAVE THE WRONG SIZE. WHEN I FIRST TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION THEY STATED ON MY FORM THAT
FIRESTONE TIRES P235/75R15 DOT VDHL EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION ON 2 OCCASIONS, ALSO CAUSING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE, CONSUMER REPLACED ALL TIRES. *SLC
WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40MPH, IN THE RAIN. HAD SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING DEER WHICH JUMPED OUT IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. HIT AN EMBANKMENT. PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELT CAME UNDONE. PASSENGER HIT HEAD ON WINDSHIELD. HAD BLACKED OUT. WAS HOSPITALIZED. *AK
