TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF A FRIEND WHO OWNS A 1992 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WITHOUT WARNING. UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT'S FRIEND WOULD HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PADDLE WITH GREAT EFFORT, AS THE BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE ABS SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 96V099000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) WITH THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 247,053.

POWER BRAKES STOPPED WORKING ON THE WAY HOME DRIVING 35 MPH. HAD TO PRESS VERY HARD TO GET THE BRAKES TO START TO SLOW THE CAR. TOLD THAT THE ABS PUMP MOTOR HAD BURNED OUT AND IS COVERED BY RECALL 685. DEALER SAID THEY HAD NO ONE WHO COULD WORK ON IT . CHRYSLER SAYS THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL ON NOVEMBER 2 2015 ON THE PHONE. THE CAR IS TO OLD AND RECALL ONLY GOOD FOR TEN YEARS . READ THE RECALL AND IT SAYS THIS PART IS GUARANTEE FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE CAR OTHER PARTS ONLY FOR TEN YEARS.
