Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. ON THANKSGIVING 2012 , I WAS COMING BACK FROM OUT OF TOWN AND DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WHEN I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED A BIT OF SMOKE. I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE THE NIGHT WAS COLD IT APPEARED AS IF SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR. HOWEVER, AFTER NOTICING THAT THE SMOKE GOT A BIG BIGGER, I PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I OPENED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS FIRE COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOOD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS. I ORDERED MY FAMILY INCLUDING MY 2 YEAR OLD BACK OUT OF THE CAR AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD EXPLODE. WE WAITED UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED BUT BY THEN THE FLAMES SUBSIDED. I WAITED ABOUT AN HOUR AND HALF IN THE COLD FOR AAA TO TOW MY CAR 154 MILES. I STILL HAVE THE RECEIPT FOR THE TOW UP TO THIS DAY. TOOK IT TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO AAMCO AND THEY SAID A PLUG WAS MISSING AND ENGINE OIL LEAKED OUT ON THE MUFFLER AND CAUSED THE FIRE. NEXT INCIDENT, CAR STARTED STALLING ON ME SEVERAL
