Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2013 300 is electrical system with 127 filings, followed by power train (58) and engine (36). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 6 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 88 investigation files overlapping the 2013 300, and 7 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

The alternator ceased up on me while I was driving on 7/12/2019. This almost caused an accident! I was driving around 55MPH and the steering and brakes completely locked up. I couldn't turn the wheel or stop my car. Eventually I slowed down and barely got the steering wheel to turn so I wasn't stuck right on the highway. My car was towed to a mechanic that replaced the alternator. I later received a recall notice in the mail for the alternator and have been trying to get reimbursed.

On the gear shift lever of my vehicle, there are jagged, hard plastic pieces between the leather and the shift lever that continuously cuts my fingers while shifting gears. The cuts are similar to papercuts. One time, a piece of the hard plastic broke off and got stuck in my hand, which required tweezers to remove. Very painful.
