In Michigan- stopped for lunch - used remote start as always when itâs cold. Came out and got back on the road and about ten minutes later a loud bang and the back window shattered. A quick google said itâs a known problem on this model with the power sliding window due to the rear defrost and thereâs a recall for Canada and 10 us states but Illinois isnât covered. Hard to understand when itâs the same part number. GM customer service rep also stated they wonât cover it when we called the corporate office. If weâd been alerted we wouldâve disabled the rear defrost long ago. Frightening to know itâs a fire hazard and what if weâd had children in the back.
Driving the truck, a nut fell against my foot. I pulled over and looked underneath to where this Nut could have come from. I realized that the brake pedal was very loose. I did a Google search to see what break pedal Nut could have loosened and Fallen off. I identified that there was a recall for the brake pedal pivot nut on these trucks. From that, I looked up to that section and found that the nut did indeed come from that part. I called the local Chevrolet dealership and they informed me that my VIN number was not part of that recall list. It is obvious that General Motors left the numbers off of that recall for vehicles that are still being affected by that problem. I called General Motors customer service and spoke to Brandy at customer service and she was not willing to help and only told me to contact this government agency. In order to prevent fatalities of innocent lives, I am reporting this.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado complete engine failure. At 143,000 miles the engine failed because of the displacement on demand fuel injection system/lifters. Lifter failed without warning, destroyed the camshaft, cam bearing and crank and crank bearings. Chevrolet/GM were no help at all and took on responsibility for building defective engines they knew would fail after the warranty expired. I ended up spending nearly $17,000 to have a remanufactured engine installed.
The failure occurred in the rear sliding window defroster electrical system, specifically at the left-side electrical connection of the power sliding rear window. The component overheated and ignited, causing fire damage and shattering of the rear left portion of the window. The vehicle and damaged components are currently available for inspection upon request. The defect resulted in an active electrical fire during normal vehicle operation (remote start while warming up). This posed a serious risk of vehicle fire, injury to occupants, and potential spread to nearby vehicles or structures. As a firefighter, I recognized the danger and immediately shut off the vehicle and ventilated it; without trained action, the incident could have resulted in a total vehicle loss or more severe consequences. Yes. Copeland Chevrolet in Hudson, Massachusetts inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the damage was consistent with the known defect in the rear sliding window defroster system, consistent w
Vehicle has electrical issues with headlamps flickering and power steering loss (which is electronic) at lower speeds. Power and radio intermittently cut out momentarily and on occasion a "stabilitrac loss" warning flashes. Looking online, many consumers experience this issue which appears to be due to faulty ground or battery connections and many have reported complete loss of power at highway speeds resulting in accidents. This appears on several Chevrolet vehicles, but especially on the Silverado and GMC Sierra 2014-2017 models. I am very surprised a recall has not been issued yet for this very dangerous and potentially fatal issue.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the instrument cluster started flickering, and the vehicle stalled. During several failures, the check engine warning light illuminated, and during other failures, there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated on several occasions that the vehicle restarted independently. The failure was an intermittent failure, but was a recurring failure. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

When my windows are up the heater whines, now yesterday the rear window blew out, Iâm being told it is a known issue with the 2015 Chevy Silverado, I saw it was recalled and fixed in 2020, obviously the fix did not work and now my truck is a fire danger.
The 6.2L AFM DOD caused the lifter failure in #7 which destroyed my motor causing $10,000 in damages. Junk lifters. Only way to fix is get rid of afm dod.
Trucks driver side rear window which is a three-piece window with a sliding window in the middle has shattered apparently due to a defect or fault in the rear window fogger. I had my son in the back at one point and put the defogger on, and it started smoking and nearly caught on fire. No warning on either incidences and they did not occur at one time but about two days apart.
Brake pedal bolt came loose and fell off. Brake pedal was difficult to use. There was a recall for this issue on 2015-2016 2500 and 3500 series trucks but not 1500 series. I have a video of the brake pedal condition but it will not let me upload it.
The contact's father owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while the owner was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made a tapping sound, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unsure whether a warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the lifters and the camshaft had failed. The cost of the repair had not yet been determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000. The VIN was not available.

I was driving down the road like normal then for a second smelled a burning smell then my back window (power sliding) drivers side just exploded and completely shattered.
I was driving on a busy street with a speed limit of around 45 mph and my torque converter failed causing my transmission to fail and my truck to become disabled in the middle of a busy road. It blocked traffic causing a potential danger to surrounding motorists and required assistance to be moved to a nearby parkin lot and later to be towed to the Chevrolet Dealership. The dealership confirmed that the transmission had failed. I subsequently took it to a specialist transmission shop that dismantled it an indicated that the torque converter had failed (a known problem with this year and model transmission) and that the failure had led to catastrophic damage to the transmission. There were no warning signs other than a couple of hard shifts just prior to failure. I was lucky that this occurred on a dry level street and not on a narrow mountain pass while pulling a trailer where the results could have been much different.
After years of driving like a grandma, my transmission unexpectedly failed while travelling down the freeway at 70mph. There were no warning signs, no vibrations, and I changed my transmission fluid at the dealer-recommended intervals. Huge bummer, really. I use my truck for work, and because of the time of year, it is unlikely that I'll be able to get it repaired for a few weeks. Certainly not going to help my bank account either, since a new transmission from Chevrolet is $4,800 before labor and other parts.
I am the original owner of a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. The vehicle's brake vacuum pump has failed, resulting in a sudden, significant loss of power braking assist. This requires excessive pedal force to stop the vehicle, creating an immediate safety hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. General Motors previously issued special coverage adjustment N192210240 ( or N182202780 ) to address this specific component failure, extending warranty coverage to 10 years or 150,000 miles. I never received notification of this coverage or the potential safety defect. The dealership has confirmed the vacuum pump failure but denied coverage because the 10- year window has recently expired. I contacted GM Corporate on 12/16/2025 and 12/17/ 2025 they declined GoodWill Assistance. I believe it is unreasonable to deny coverage for a know safety defect on a vehicle owned by the original purchaser who was never properly notified of the extension on N182202780.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving and turning, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that the vehicle regained power steering functionality upon depressing the accelerator pedal on several occasions. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact that there would be a charge for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

First off the truck my father and I purchased was a brand new LT 1500 model with v6 engine and 4 wheel drive from Bill Defouw Chevrolet Lafayette, IN In 2020 I contacted the sheriff's department because the vehicle we had purchased had been stolen and switched out with another truck that had a non matching stamped vin on the frame underneath and nothing else matched with photos of proof did not match either. I gave the photos to the authorities to observe and they handed them back to me and laughed at me. The truck that was left with me that the thieves tried to make me believe was my truck was a salvage flood vehicle with the strong smell of mold and mildew and tires that didn't match and other areas on the truck that did not match our brand new truck we purchased that had never been altered except for adding a bed liner. I have tons of photos showing the unmatched stamped vin and photos throughout the years of ownership that I've been trying to get help with before someone gets hu
AFM/DFM on my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT had to lifters collapse without warning and no engine light was hole I had my 7 year old daughter and 10 year old son in the vehicle while I was driving. My kids got scared and I had to react quick and go into a drive way. While I was driving my vehicle gave out without warning and couldâve caused a serious accident to my kids and myself including other vehicles.
