NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2014 CHEVEROLET SS, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Lost steering assist while turning left at intersection, steering wheel became very hard to turn. Warning message displayed on dash indicating steering malfunction. Assist returned a few seconds later.
The ONstar module has very high idle power drain. As a result of this, my car battery died when not driven for a week, regardless of the condition/age of the battery. This has occured consistently since I bought the car new and has left me stranded on multiple occasions. This problem has been addressed in the 2015 model years of my car but the recall never applied to my 2014 car, which has the exact same battery drain issue (see SB-10057076-5170 and bulletin no. 14395). I just want the manufacturer to address this so I can get my car fixed without paying a ridiculous price.
Lost electric steering. Dealer said that repair had been completed and that it was my responsibility to pay for repair even though there is a recall for this issue.

I was driving on the highway when it was snowing. And my service power steering light came on. And the steering got hard and I was on a curve so I went off the road because I could not control the vehicle since it was so instant. I got out of the center median and drove it home. Come to find out there was a recall for it I don't think it was properly done.
The contact's client owns a 2014 Chevrolet SS. The contact stated that while his client was driving at various speeds, the power steering assist failed to operate as needed. The contact was not certain if a warning light was illuminated. The contact's client then received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V382000 (Steering) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for service. Upon return of the vehicle, the failure persisted, and the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the vehicle was not repaired under recall. The contact then notified the manufacturer of the failure and they had offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
My seatbelt cable broke on 8/9/2021. I put the belt on and as I was adjusting the belts, the belt/cable that is attached to the floor by driver side door broke. I took it to the Chevrolet dealership to get it fixed and I did see that there was a recall on my model, but my VIN wasnât listed so the dealership was gonna charge me for the repair. My car has the same issue with the recall but they wanted to charge me to get it fixed even though it was a safety issue! Itâs not my fault that the cable broke! Itâs Chevroletsâ! (NHTSA Recall 16V518) So Iâve been driving without a seatbelt now for 8 days. The dealership didnât even sound concerned that I could have gone thru my windshield if I were in a wreck! Yes, they actually let me leave the dealership without a seatbelt! No more Chevrolets for me!
I was in the driver seat. I put my seatbelt on and adjusted the belts and pulled the whole seatbelt out!. I had to drive home without a seatbelt. Pretty scary.
I WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED TODAY WHEN I GOT INTO MY 2014 CHEVROLET SS AND THE SEATBELT DETACHED FROM ITS ANCHOR POINT IN MY HAND WITHOUT ANY WARNING. FROM THE ATTACHED PICTURES, YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE HOW FORTUNATE I AM TO BE ALIVE. THIS HAS BEEN MY FAMILY CAR FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS, AND JUST THE MERE THOUGHT THAT I HAVE BEEN PUTTING MY FAMILY'S LIFE AT RISK IN THIS CAR IS VERY UPSETTING. I AM DILIGENT WITH ALL MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY RECALLS. FROM THE ATTACHED SERVICE INVOICE YOU CAN SEE THAT I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MUZI CHEVROLET IN NEEDHAM, MA ON 12/27/2016 TO HAVE SERVICE CAMPAIGN 15822 PERFORMED TO REPLACE POTENTIALLY FAULTY SEATBELT ANCHOR CABLES. BECAUSE SAFETY SHOULD ALWAYS BE PARAMOUNT, I ACTED ON THIS VERY SERIOUS RECALL IMMEDIATELY, BUT I AM NOW LEFT WONDERING WHETHER THE SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED WITH AN UPDATED FAULTY PART, OR IF THE RECALL WAS EVER PERFORMED AT ALL. I AM THE FIRST OWNER OF THIS 2014 SS, AND WAS THE FIRST OWNER OF A PONTIAC G8 GT FOR 5 YEARS BEFORE T
