Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2022 XT4 is service brakes with 2 filings. Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 1 active recall campaign, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

SEATS
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Malibu, 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, Blazer and Cadillac XT4 vehicles. The driver's seat cushion frame may have an improper weld in the power tilt-adjustment mechanism.
When backing up the vehicle, the front brakes squeak as if the wear sensor is engaging. The noise goes away and does not reappear for the remainder of the drive cycle. I took it to the dealer and the pads are not in need of replacement. The service writer stated that it is a 'characteristic' of the vehicle and GM is aware of the problem. They have not issued a service bulletin for this. They also refuse to replace any parts relating to this problem. A search of the internet reveals this is a common problem with XT4's over several years. A simple solution appears to be to lubricate the pads where they seat into the caliper.
I purchased this car used in early 2024. Shortly after buying it, the brakes began squeaking while backing out of the garage in the morning. This is the only time day this occurs. It has been a constant complaint since. I took it to Suburban Cadillac in Troy, Michigan where I purchased the car. They said it is a characteristic of the car and GM is aware of it. Their only suggestion was to spend $1,800 to replace all four brakes and rotors. This causes anxiety as the noise is the same as if the brakes are worn out. The shop at the dealer checked the pads and they all had 8 to 9 mm left. Also, the mileage on the car is about 22,000 miles.
