TRIED PUMPING BRAKES, SHIFTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, REVERSE, PARK- ALL WHILE AT AN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATED SPEED. I PLOWED INTO A RESIDENTIAL YARD WHICH HAD A SMALL HILL THINKING MAYBE I COULD STOP THE CAR THAT WAY. THAT DIDN'T WORK. I SWERVED BACK INTO THE STREET; CAR STILL REVVING AND MOVING FORWARD. WHEN THE PROBLEM RECURRED IT WAS SIX MONTHS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE SINCE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE PROBLEM HAD RECURRED THREE TIMES WITHIN THE LAST FOUR YEARS WITH IT POSSIBLY LEADING TO A SERIOUS CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WITH THE LATEST REPAIRS BEING UNCOMPLETED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FEBRUARY OF 2018. WE CALLED GM AND SPOKE WITH REPRESENTATIVES THAT SAID THERE WAS IN FACT A RECALL FOR OUR EXACT MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR FOR THE PREMATURE WARE OF THE TIMING CHAIN, BUT IT WAS NOT WITH OUR VIN.

THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
