As I was pulling off from a stop sign, passenger and driver airbags deployed unexpectedly with no reason causing the front windshield to shatter and leaving the steering wheel busted open along side passenger dash. Also leaving me with burns, scratches on my chin and small shards of glass in my face and forearms.

The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration and inadvertently shifted into cruise control and then seized in full idle. The accelerator pedal depressed independently. The high battery voltage and oxygen sensor warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure and diagnosed that the vehicle needed an idle control motor replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. THE FUEL LINE MADE OF HEAVY PLASTIC CRACKED AND CAUSED ALL THE FUEL TO LEAK FROM THE CAR NEAR THE ENGINE AS I WAS DRIVING NEAR MY HOME. I AM LUCKY THE CAR DID NOT CATCH FIRE BEFORE I REALIZED IT WAS LEAKING AS I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD.

WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE ON HOT DAY WITH AC ON I GOT MESSAGE NO CHARGE, AND "ENGINE HOT SHUTDOWN SOON", & AC COMPRESSOR OFF! (A NO BRAINER WITH BELT SHREDDED!!) AS WELL AS STEERING GOING NUMB. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD THE SERPENTINE BELT HAD SLIPPED OFF THE PULLEYS & SHREDDED. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP "ADAPTER" HAS A LEAK THAT DRIPS OIL DIRECTLY ONTO THE BELT & PULLEYS WHICH ARE SMOOTH WITH NOTHING TO STOP BELT FROM SLIDING OFF SHOULD A LEAK OCCURS. I OBSERVED A LIQUID PUDDLE ABOUT MIDWAY BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR DOORS, ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION I CONCLUDED THE LIQUID WAS GASOLINE. I FELT WHERE I THOUGHT THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM AND FELT TUBING. I FELT THE A TUBE LINE AND IT CRUMBLED IN MY HAND. UPON FURTHER VISUAL INSPECTION, I OBSERVED OTHER AREAS (ALONG THE DRIVERS DOOR) THAT WERE ALSO LEAKING GASOLINE. MUCH OF THE GAS LINE IS CRUMBLING PLASTIC, CAUSING GASOLINE TO LEAK UNDER THE CAR. *TR

I WENT TO START MY CAR (1995 CADILLAC CONCOURSE) AND BEFORE THE ENGINE TURNED-OVER, I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP, SIMILAR TO A BACK FIRE, EXCEPT THAT THIS NOISE CAME FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. I THEN, SIMULTANEOUSLY, NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER NEATH THE CLOSED HOOD. I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND THAT THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. I RAN BACK INSIDE THE HOUSE TO GET WATER AND WET TOWELS TO TRY AND PUT OUT THE FIRE, WHICH, AFTER ABOUT 5 TO 6 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE ENGINE HAD NEVER CAUGHT ON FIRE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. DAMAGED TO THE ENGINE FROM THE FIRE APPEARED TO BE SUBSTANTIAL IN TERMS OF WIRES, HOSES, VARIOUS PLASTIC COVERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENGINE. BECAUSE I AM NOT A MECHANIC, I CAN'T SAY WHAT KIND OF STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OCCURRED DURING THE FIRE. AS A RESULT OF THIS FIRE, I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY VEHICLE SINCE 5/7/09. THE ONLY WAY I HAVE BEEN GETTING TO AND FROM WORK IS WITH THE GENEROSITY OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I CALLED GENERAL MO

REGULAR TIRE SERVICE WAS PROVIDED. THERE WAS NO ABNORMAL BULGING IN THE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND HAD THE TIRE CHECKED OUT BY THE PLACE OF PURCHASE. A LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATING TECHNICAL STAFF EXAMINED TIRE DOT # HNC7FREZ1606, AND DETERMINED THE TIRE FAILED BY IMPACT FROM AN UNKNOWN OBJECT. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THE CAUSE OF THE BLOWOUT WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THERE WAS NO RECALL INDICATED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE TO SUPPORT THAT THE BLOWOUT WAS CALLED BY A RECALL.
