BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2011-2014 S 1000 RR/R/ HP4, R 1200 GS/GS Adventure/R/RT, K 1300 S, K 1600 GT/GTL/GTL Exclusive and 2014 R nine T motorcycles. The fuel pump, and auxiliary fuel pump in certain models, may crack and leak fuel during vehicle operation.

THE CONTACT CALLED HARRISON EUROSPORTS (339 W. 9000 S, SANDY, UT 84070, (801) 618-2700) AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW K1300S. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V617000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, AN ABNORMAL SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF MOTORCYCLE. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TAKEN TO GATEWAY BMW MOTORCYCLES LOCATED AT 2690 MASTERSON AVE SUITE 300, ST. LOUIS, MO 63114, WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,168.
