THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER ON MY BMW 2014 C650GT MALFUNCTIONED AND DESTROYED THE ENGINE IN MY SCOOTER. I AM UNINJURED. LUCKILY. STALLED AS I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION AND WOULD NOT RESTART WITH VERY LOUD RATTLING NOISES FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I'M QUITE UPSET AFTER SEEING THE ATTACHED RECALL FROM 6 YEARS AGO AND WONDERING WHY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, BMW OF CAMBRIDGE, MA , DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THIS. IT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT FROM HAPPENING.

VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS OR AT IDLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION AND WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL AFFECTING YEARS 2013 AND 2014 THIS IS A 2014 MODEL. THIS IS BEING REFERRED TO YOU BECAUSE I WAS WITHIN 6 FEET OF BEING KILLED FOR THIS PROBLEM AND WHEN I MENTIONED IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT BMW I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A $2600 24,000 MILE SERVICE. IT IS THE CAMSHAFT CHAIN TENSIONER, I KNOW THIS BECAUSE BMW SENT A LETTER TO YOU ON MAY 14TH 2014 IN A 3 PAGE DOCUMENT STATING THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND THAT BMW WOULD BE ISSUING A RECALL TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE $2600 FOR THE SERVICE, HOWEVER, I DO CARE ABOUT BEING IN DANGER OF BEING KILLED BECAUSE THE ENGINE DECIDES TO STALL ON THE FREEWAY OR WHILE MAKING A TURN ON AN INTERSECTION OR EVEN WORSE RIDING CLOSE TO A CLIFF AND RIDING OVER THE SIDE BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER. THE LETTER WAS ADDRESSED TO NANCY LEWIS ASSOCIATE ADMIN
