The contact owns a 2006 BMW 750I. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V328000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated that the passenger's side rear door had failed to function as intended and failed to open. Additionally, the handle on the driver's side rear door intermittently failed to function as intended and required to be hit to function as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to perform the recall repair because the door latch system on the vehicle was old. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOM BUSH BMW JACKSONVILLE (9875 ATLANTIC BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32225) WHERE THEY STATED THAT THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH AND CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE DOOR LATCH REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THERE WAS A RECALL A COUPLE YEARS AGO REGARDING THE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ON MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA STATES THEY REPAIRED IT. HOWEVER, I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE NOW AND THE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR SENSOR LIGHT IS FLASHING ON MY DASHBOARD. ACCORDING TO THE DESCRIPTION OF WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF THIS IS FAULTY AND HAPPEN, I AM SCARED FOR MY LIFE TO DRIVE THE CAR.

BRAKES SUDDENLY BECAME VERY HARD TO ENGAGE. IT TOOK QUITE A BIT OF FORCE TO BRING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP. A MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM HAD FAILED AND THAT BMW HAD A RECALL FOR THE SYSTEM - 10V-466. I CALLED BMW WARRANTY AND INFORMED THEM OF THE REASON FOR MY CALL AS WELL AS THE VIN. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE NO OUTSTANDING RECALL NOTICES FOR MY VEHICLE. WHILE NO ONE COULD TELL ME WHEN, THE FACT THAT THERE WERE NO OUTSTANDING RECALL NOTICES ON THIS VEHICLE APPARENTLY INDICATING THAT THE CORRECTION ON THE CAR HAD BEEN MADE. AFTER A LENGTHY DEBATE ABOUT WHAT THIS MEANT AND WHY BMW SAID THEY HAD NO MORE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ISSUE, I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR. I GOT SARAH (EMPLOYEE #7716), AN ESCALATION SUPERVISOR. VERY NICE BUT ESSENTIALLY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO, THAT BMW WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MATTER AND THERE WAS NO ONE THAT SHE COULD ESCALATE ME TO. IF THE ENGINE START/STOP BUTTON IS PRESSED 2 OR 3 TIMES WITHIN A SHORT TIME INTERVAL, THE SYSTEM MAY SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION TO NEUTRAL RATHER THAN PARK. THE INSPECTOR STATED THAT THE BALD TIRES COULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIR BAGS NOT TO DEPLOY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
