ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, A MICROPROCESSOR IN THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE, WHICH ACTIVATES THE FRONT AIR BAGS, THE SIDE AIR BAGS, THE FRONT SEAT SAFETY BELT PRETENSIONERS, AND THE BATTERY SAFETY TERMINAL, MAY HAVE A MALFUNCTION THAT COULD LEAD TO AN UNINTENDED ACTIVATION OF ONE OR MORE OF THESE

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ENGINE AUXILIARY/COOLING FAN OPERATION, INCLUDING VARIABLE SPEED, IS ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED. FAILURE OF THE FAN MOTOR CAN CAUSE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY OF THE FAN CONTROL UNIT TO OVERLOAD AND FAIL, CAUSING THE FAN TO STOP OPERATING.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT WALMART. LESS THEN 5 MINUTES AFTER WALKING INTO THE STORE THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE.

I PARKED MY CAR AND FOUND THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAD ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE, MELTING THE CARPET AND PLASTIC INTERIOR, GLOVEBOX AND MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND WIRING HARNESS. THE AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED AND THERE WAS BLACK SOOT COVERING THE INTERIOR. I FOUND THAT THERE WAS WATER ACCUMULATED BENEATH THE PASSENGER FOOTWELL, WHERE THERE IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL FUSE PANEL. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IN FRONT OF MY HOME AND I'VE HAD TO FIND A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE WIRI

ON DECEMBER 19, 2004 I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 BMW 530I WITH THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT HEATER IN THE ON POSITION. I PARKED THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, AND WAS EXITING ON THE DRIVER SIDE, WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE BACK SUPPORT PORTION OF THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT HAD CAUGHT ON E AND BURNED A HOLE THROUGH THE LEATHER INTERIOR. IT ALSO SINGED MY WINTER COAT THAT I WAS WEARING AT THE TIME. I PUT OUT THE FIRE AND REALIZED THAT THE SEAT HEATER ELEMENT HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE FIRE. TO DATE
ON OCTOBER 31, 2003 AT 9:30PM, AIRBAGS(FRONT, HEAD - DRIVER SIDE/FRONT, SIDE, HEAD - PASSENGER SIDE) DEPLOYED AS DRIVER WAS STARTING THE ENGINE OF A PARKED CAR. THE IMPACT SHATTERED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND DRIVER RECEIVED A CONCUSSION. DRIVER IS CURRENTLY SUFFERING FROM HEADACHES, RINGING IN THE EAR, SLEEP-DISORDER, SORE/STIFFNESS. *AK
