2018 INFINITI Q70L — Complaint #2178363

Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about AIR BAGS filed February 19, 2026

NHTSA complaint #2178363 (ODI reference 11718998) concerns a 2018 INFINITI Q70L and was filed on February 19, 2026. The owner reports the failure occurred on February 5, 2026. The report was geocoded to Florida based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as air bags, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same INFINITI Q70L cohort independently describe similar air bags failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

The Passenger Occupant Classification System in the passenger seat is showing an airbag code of B00A0-02 on my 2018 Infiniti Q70L . The dealer cannot clear that code. The only solution is to replace the entire seat bottom (leather/foam/all electronics for raising the seat) all integrated. That part number is 87300-6ar3a and sells for $2800 plus labor to replace, over $600. My 2018 Infiniti Q70L only has 10300 Miles, garage kept. This integrated design has been problematic for the Q70 and Q50. Cost to repair is enormous. Infiniti should acknowledge this issue. It is a MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, because if not repaired the passenger airbag is permanently turned off and for a failure for a car with so few miles and meticulously kept, this is unacceptable. I have 2 of the Q70's and its a matter of time before the other vehicle show the same issue.
