Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about POWER TRAIN filed February 13, 2026

NHTSA complaint #2176567 (ODI reference 11717811) concerns a 2014 FORD F-150 and was filed on February 13, 2026. The owner reports the failure occurred on February 13, 2026. The report was geocoded to Missouri based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as power train, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD F-150 cohort independently describe similar power train failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

When driving, the truck will down shift or won’t to shift up at all. After turning the vehicle off, it seems to resolve itself after you turn it back on. Unless the orange light to indicate gear won’t appear. Then vehicle won’t start when the gear can’t be indicated, leaving myself or family members stranded. It refuses to start in neutral as well. I took the vehicle to Car x. I have no check engine nor do I have any transmission codes. I was told it may be a pcm to transmission problem and to check for recalls. My vehicle doesn’t show on the recall list but is showing symptoms of a recall listed.
