2018 RAM 2500 — Complaint #2176553
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about SERVICE BRAKES filed February 13, 2026
NHTSA complaint #2176553 (ODI reference 11717803) concerns a 2018 RAM 2500 and was filed on February 13, 2026. The owner reports the failure occurred on November 30, 2024. The report was geocoded to Pennsylvania based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as service brakes, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same RAM 2500 cohort independently describe similar service brakes failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2018 RAM 2500 shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
The warning lights have been on for months indicating the ABS is malfunctioning, we have had it to the dealership garage several times and they keep telling us we are on the list but the parts are not available even though it has been over a year. If they fail completely we will have no control over the braking system which can cause a vehicle crash. We have to limit the driving we do with our vehicle because of the danger that is involved. We have another issue for our vehicle: I contacted Chrysler twice with no response. and addressed it with our dealership and they have not helped. We have reported this issue to Chrysler about our 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins diesel concerning the Particulate Matter Sensor. This has been ongoing for a year and Chrysler is aware of this problem and has issued recalls on them from 2019 and up. We need this matter to include the 2018's including ours as it has the same issue. Please help us to have this matter resolved.
