2015 FORD ESCAPE — Complaint #2106232

Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about SEAT BELTS filed July 2, 2025

NHTSA complaint #2106232 (ODI reference 11670883) concerns a 2015 FORD ESCAPE and was filed on July 2, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on March 1, 2024. The report was geocoded to North Carolina based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as seat belts, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD ESCAPE cohort independently describe similar seat belts failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

Sunroof will not close and every time it rains it leaks so much to the point that it’s going to cause more electrical issues. I will not take this back to the Randy Marion dealership in west Jefferson NC they also sold me this car with a bad transmission which ended back up in the shop for 3 plus months. They were completely incompetent about handling the situation. So I will not go back to them. Also they sold this cat with seatbelts that are so lose if I were to have a wreck I would probably go through the windshield. They didn’t want to repair that without me handling the bill.
