NHTSA Complaint about FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS filed March 12, 2025

NHTSA complaint #2073365 (ODI reference 11647938) concerns a 2023 CHEVROLET TAHOE and was filed on March 12, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on March 1, 2025. The report was geocoded to Illinois based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as forward collision avoidance: warnings, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET TAHOE cohort independently describe similar forward collision avoidance: warnings failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

First the front collision warning systems kept coming on and off. Then the engine died on the highway and I had to restart. I drove a little further and it died again and would not restart. I had it towed to the dealer and they are telling me the engine has seized and needs to be replaced. I have 40,000 mile and the car is 2 years old. It was very dangerous to have the car die twice while at speed on the highway.
