Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about POWER TRAIN filed May 23, 2024

NHTSA complaint #1993710 (ODI reference 11590286) concerns a 2024 CHEVROLET COLORADO and was filed on May 23, 2024. The owner reports the failure occurred on May 19, 2024. The report was geocoded to New York based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as power train, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET COLORADO cohort independently describe similar power train failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

I was driving the vehicle up a mountain, in a 70m speed zone, when the dash board lit up. The vehicle started to decelerate, I pushed the gas petal but it just decelerated. I put on the emergency light and continued to the exit. Stopping in Liberty Pa, at an Exxon station. Called GM roadside assistance. On-Demand Diagnostics stated: ECM-Engine System code P00700. TCM P0658, TCM P2729, and P281D. Odometer reading 3840. Remaining oil life: 49%. Our safety was compromised by the unexpected deceleration of the vehicle and possibly being stranded on the road. Was luck to get off the highway safely. The car was towed to Jack McNerney Chevrolet, Inc. 363 NYS Rt13, Tully, NY 13159 +13156968976. The car has been at the dealer since the night of [XXX]. Have been told that the car is not drivable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
