NHTSA Complaint about VISIBILITY/WIPER filed September 25, 2022
NHTSA complaint #1843334 (ODI reference 11486264) concerns a 2022 HONDA ODYSSEY and was filed on September 25, 2022. The owner reports the failure occurred on August 17, 2022. The report was geocoded to Minnesota based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as visibility/wiper, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same HONDA ODYSSEY cohort independently describe similar visibility/wiper failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2022 HONDA ODYSSEY shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
Both the drive side view mirror and passenger side view mirror vibrate/shake while driving over a even small bumps and uneven pavement/road. I have noticed this since the vehicle was over 1000 miles. Took it in multiple times to dealership to replace the mirrors. They donât take any action and state vibration is normal, unlike any other vehicles which doesnât vibrate on such surfaces. This is a safety issue as the driver has to spend more time to check the mirrors for vehicles in blind spots. Now, vehicle has about 4500 miles. I have made 4 visits to dealership already including 3 visits to Richfield Bloomington Honda in Richfield, Minnesota: still no resolution. I have opened case with Honda America three weeks ago. They have been unsuccessful in getting responses from dealership.
