2015 RAM 3500 — Complaint #1555796
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about SUSPENSION filed April 7, 2019
NHTSA complaint #1555796 (ODI reference 11194498) concerns a 2015 RAM 3500 and was filed on April 7, 2019. The owner reports the failure occurred on January 27, 2019. The vehicle had 55,000 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to Colorado based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as suspension, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same RAM 3500 cohort independently describe similar suspension failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2015 RAM 3500 shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK AND TURNING SLIGHTLY LEFT, I HIT A SMALL BUMP ON THE ROAD AND MY TRUCK STARTED VIBRATING UNCONTROLLABLY AND I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE VIBRATED SO HARD THAT I SLID ACROSS OTHER LANES OF TRAFFIC TO MY RIGHT WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO STEER. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER THE COMPLETE STOP, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AND STEER THE VEHICLE. SINCE THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED, I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE HAPPEN WHEN I'M DRIVING WHILE TURNING AND HITTING A BUMP. I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS, STATE HIGHWAYS AND FLYOVER ON RAMPS. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG AND IS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT THE MOMENT.
