I called the dealership in Feb 2022 to have recall done and was told they were ordering the parts but have not heard from them.

20230804STEERING

The vehicle started to exhibit a popping or clunking sound in the steering Column after 125,000 miles. Was told it was not dangerous and continued to drive while albeit was still distracting. At 165,000, the sound became extremely loud at hwy speeds of 70-80mph and cause the steering wheel to shake and pull to the left. Took to mechanic who told me to take it to dealer. Dealer immediately knew what the problem was but was told I would have to replace the entire steering column because there was no way access the bushing otherwise. It was 15$ EPS bushing/damper that had literally worn down to nothing cause the power steering motor to vibrate on the steering column when going over bumps and driving at high speeds. Altering the alignment and causing a slow leak of hydraulic power steering fluid. This apparently is a fairly common issue with 2009-2015 Toyota Venza

I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND COULD FEEL THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTEN LIKE IT WAS LOCKING UP. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED TO GREEN I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN AND HAD NO POWER IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I MANUALLY TURNED WHEEL AS HARD AS I COULD AND DRIFTED ACROSS ROAD WITH VERY LITTLE CONTROL BECAUSE IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL. I PULLED/ DRIFTED THE CAR OFF THE ROAD IN A DIAGONAL DIRECTION BECAUSE IT WAS TOO DIFFICULT TO TRULY MAKE A DIRECT TURN OR PULLOVER. THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED VEHICLE OFF AFTER I DRIFTED TO A SAFE SPOT AND WHEN TURNED IT BACK ON THE STEERING WORKED. I DROVE TO A REPAIR SHOP BUT NO DIAGNOSIS HAS BEEN MADE YET. THIS HAPPENED ON A MAJOR ROAD BUT NOT HIGHWAY. I SUSPECT THIS MAY BE RELATED TO THE TOYOTA SAFETY RECALL F0J (F1J) ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ELECTRIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) CERTAIN TOYOTA VEHICLES 2014-2015. MY VENZA WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT MAYBE IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE THE STEERING PROBLEM WAS EXACTLY AS DESC

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT 2WE MAKING A NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THEY CHANGED THE SHOCKS, BUT THE NOISE DIDN'T STOP. I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC THAT TOLD ME THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE REAR BUSHINGS, WHICH ARE PLASTIC (MOST OF THE TIME THE BUSHINGS ARE MADE OF METAL) INSIDE OF THE HUB. I WAS CHARGED TO FIX THE WRONG THING BY THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE PROBLEM WAS STILL NOT FIXED. WHY DID THEY USE A PLASTIC PART, JUST TO SAVE MONEY? THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I BUY A TOYOTA. THE VEHICLE STILL MAKES NOISE, AND IS HEATING UP MY TIRES AT AN ALARMINGLY FAST RATE.

IN NOVEMBER 2018 A WARNING LIGHT ON THE DISPLAY INDICATED A MALFUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT DIAGNOSED. THEIR ANALYSIS INDICATED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION ON THE LEFT FRONT SENSOR AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF THE LEFT FRONT SENSOR AND THE WIRING HARNESS. THIS WIRING HARNESS ENCOMPASSES ALMOST THE ENTIRE ROOF. THEY ESTIMATED THE TIME TO REPLACE THE HARNESS AND SENSOR WOULD BE ABOUT 10 HOURS AND THE COST WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $4000. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT NOR HAS IT BEEN STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. IT HAS ALSO BEEN KEPT IN A HEATED GARAGE THE ENTIRE 4 YEARS. TO MY KNOWLEDGE A WIRING HARNESS IS NOT A WEARABLE ITEM. *TR

20180526STRUCTURE:BODY

THE POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS IN TOYOTA VEHICLES FROM THIS YEAR MODEL ARE DEFECTIVE. THEY ONLY LAST ABOUT A YEAR OR TWO BEFORE THEY STOP WORKING. REPLACING THE ACTUATOR IS A VERY TIME INTENSIVE PROCEDURE AND THE COMPONENT IS NOT CHEAP EITHER. OUR VEHICLE HAS HAD THREE OF THE FOUR DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAIL IN LESS THAN THREE YEARS. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND THE ACTUATORS FAILED UNDER NORMAL USE. I HAVE ANOTHER OLDER TOYOTA WITH WELL OVER 200,000 MILES AND THE ACTUATORS WORK JUST FINE. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE ON A SIMPLE EVERYDAY COMPONENT IS UNACCEPTABLE. A QUICK SEARCH AROUND THE INTERNET WILL REVEAL THAT THE ACTUATORS FAILING IS A COMMON THEME AMONG NEWER TOYOTA VEHICLES. THIS DEFECTIVE PART EXISTS IN ALMOST EVERY TOYOTA CAR AND SOME SUV AND TRUCK MODELS. TOYOTA IS UNABLE TO PRODUCE A RELIABLE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR.

THE DUST IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE AIR CONDITIONING'S EVAPORATOR FLAKING OFF SMALL PIECES. CARSPEC'S HEARD MULTIPLE EXPLANATIONS AS TO WHY THE EVAPORATOR DOES THIS: THE PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE EVAPORATOR FLAKES OFF, THE EVAPORATOR'S ALUMINUM CORRODES, ETC. THE BLOWER TAKES THESE BITS OF DEBRIS AND PUSHES THEM THROUGH THE VENTS INTO THE CABIN. THE SOLUTION TO FIXING THE PROBLEM IS, UNFORTUNATELY, TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE DASH, CRASH BAR, MOST OF THE FRONT HARNESS, AIR/HEATER BOX AND REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR CORE WITH AN UPDATED PART ' AN EXPENSIVE PROPOSITION ' WHILE CLEANING ALL OF THE VENTS THAT MAY HOUSE RESIDUAL DUST. ALUMINUM DUST CANNOT BE GOOD FOR LUNGS OF OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO COST TO VEHICLE OWNER.

I'M FROM VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA. I WAS DRIVING BACK, FROM VANCOUVER AIRPORT OUTLET STORES, ON HIGHWAY 99, WITH AROUND 90 KM/H AND WHEN I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION WITH OVER-PASSING CAMBIE ROAD, I HEARD LIKE AN GLASS EXPLOSION ON THE CAR ROOF, AND BY REFLEX I DUCK AND COVER BUT I DID NOT STOP THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INCOMING TRAFFIC. I MANAGED TO SLOW DOWN AND MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY THEN STOP THE CAR COMPLETELY. WHEN GOT OUT AN LOOK I SAW MY MOBILE SUNROOF BROKEN IN LARGE PIECES, LIKE SOMEONE CUT IT I SQUARE LIKE FORMS. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT MY SUNROOF OVERHEAD PROTECTION WAS CLOSED, AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, OTHERWISE ALL THOSE BROKEN SUNROOF PIECES HAD FALLEN IN MY HEAD ... AND AT 90 KM/H ... MY REACTION WOULD HAD BEEN DIFFERENT, PROBABLY LEADING TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. SINCE IT WAS LONG WEEKEND, THE COMPANY WHICH SOLD ME THE CAR, AND REPRESENT TOYOTA (DESTINATION TOYOTA BURNABY) WAS CLOSED, SO I CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND FILE A CLAIM ([XXX]). I FINA

ON FRIDAY, JULY 1ST ON VACATION TO HERSHY PENNSLYVANIA THE SUNROOF ON MY 2014 TOYOTA VENZA EXPLODED. THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OR ANYTHING NEAR US. I INFORMED TOYOTA OF HOPKINSVILLE ABOUT MY CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE I CALLED THE TOYOTA COPORATE OFFICE JUST TO GET TRANSFERED FROM ONE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO ANOTHER. I AM OUT OF RENTAL CAR EXPENSES PLUS MY INSURANCE DEDUCTIBE. BOTH INSURANCE ESTIMATOR AND TOYOTA TECHNICIAN AGREED NO OBJECT DAMAGED THE ROOF BUT TOYOTA REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. I JUST WANT TO TRAVEL IN A VEHICLE THAT IS SAFE AND THE CAR MANUFACTURE HAS SOME INTEGRITY.
