The 1994TOYOTASUPRA carries 11 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 4 crashes, 0 fires, 2 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 1994 SUPRA is tires with 2 filings, followed by tires:sidewall (1) and electrical system:wiring (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 51 investigation files overlapping the 1994 SUPRA, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. 1994 TOYOTA SUPRA LOSS CONTROL WHILE DRIVING ON THE WET PAVEMENT.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH COOPER ZEON 2XS TIRES AND THE REAR TIRES HAVE YOKOHAMA AVS ES100. CONSUMER BELIEVES THE PROBLEM IS EITHER THAT THE COOPER TIRES ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ON WET PAVEMENT IN GENERAL OR THAT THE COMBINATION OF COOPER TIRES AND YOKOHAMA TIRES WHILE DRIVING ON WET PAVEMENT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. *TT *NM
THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING IN THE YEARS 93 - 96 TOYOTA SUPRAS BECOME DULL AND YELLOW AFTER SOME TIME. CONDENSATION ALSO APPEARS IN THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ON MANY TOYOTA SUPRAS AND LEXUS SC'S, NOT ONLY MINE. I HAVE FORWARDED THIS LINK TO AN E-MAIL LIST FOR OTHER SUPRA OWNERS TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM. TOYOTA CURRENTLY HAS NO CAMPAIGNS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, BUT BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION AS WELL AS THE POSSIBILITY OF A SHORT CIRCUIT FROM WATER INSIDE, IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. PLEASE LET ME KNOW OF YOUR FINDINGS. REGARDS, JOO-PENG ONG. *AK
