The contact was driving a company-owned 2017 Toyota Prius C. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, another driver merging onto the highway attempted to cross multiple lanes of traffic, misjudged, and collided with the front passenger-side fender of the contactâs vehicle. As a result, the contactâs vehicle struck the left shoulder barrier, became airborne, and overturned three times before coming to rest in the middle of the roadway. Despite the severity of the crash, the air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility and deemed a total loss by the employerâs insurance provider. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact was transported by EMTs to a local hospital and treated for multiple nondescript injuries, including a damaged right rotator cuff and body pain. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT THEN SWERVED TO THE RIGHT AND HIT A CURB AS THE VEHICLE WENT AIR BOURNE. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE AND SOME BRUSHES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FRONT, SIDE, AND REAR AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SCRATCHES AND CUTS TO THE KNEES AND NECK INJURIES AS SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER WESTBURY TOYOTA (1121 OLD COUNTRY RD, WESTBURY, NY 11590, (516) 272-4499) WAS CONTACTED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED.
