The 2000SUZUKIGSX1300 carries 5 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2000 GSX1300 is power train:manual transmission with 3 filings, followed by power train:axle assembly (1) and fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 14 investigation files overlapping the 2000 GSX1300. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. TRANSMISSION SECOND GEAR SKIPS LOOSING POWER.NOTE THIS MOTORCYCLE IS NEVER BEEN ABUSED.I WAS GETTING INTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRANSMISSION STARTS SKIPPING AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY A CAR DUE TO LOOS OF POWER.I KNOW OF OTHER FRIEND OF MINE WITH SAME MODEL SAME YEAR MOTORCYCLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION PLEASE SEND ME AND EMAIL.THANKS FOUR YOUR INTEREST.
MOTORCYCLE KEPT SLIPPING OUT OF SECOND GEAR, IT DID IT FIRST AT 55 MPH BUT THEN DID IT ALL THE TIME AFTER THAT. SUZUKI KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IF THE PROBLEM WITH THIS PERSISTS IT WILL END UP COSTING ME MY ENTIRE PRICE OF MY BIKE SINCE MY WARRANTY ENDS IN A FEW MONTHS. SUZUKI TRIES TO BLAME THE PROBLEM ON RIDER ERROR AND NOT FAULTY PARTS. WE PAY FOR THE BEST IN BIKE PERFORMANCE AND WE GET CHEAP PARTS THAT BREAK IN 5500 MILES.*AK
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE SECOND GEAR DOES NOT WORK AND IT SEEMS TO NOT BE THERE, AND THE CLUTCH MAKES LOUD CHATTERING SOUNDS MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE MATTER, AND I BELIEVE SUZUKI KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL.
FUEL TANK ON THE MOTORCYCLE HAS A PIVOT. COULD HEAR FUEL POURING OUT. RETURN FUEL HOSE HAD FALLEN OFF. WAS SERVICING THE OIL FILTER & CHANGING THE OIL WHEN THIS HAD HAPPENED. THE CLAMP HAD NO TENSION ON IT. *AK
REAR HUB HAS CASTING MARKS CRACKS. IF IT BREAKS, REAR WHEEL COULD WOBBLE AND CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *AK
