The 2018RAM3500 carries 1063 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 20 crashes, 3 fires, 10 injuries, and 1 fatality. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2018 3500 is service brakes with 466 filings, followed by electrical system (127) and service brakes, hydraulic (96). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 11 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 3 investigation files overlapping the 2018 3500, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

While towing 10,000 lb trailer vehicle displayed indicators that traction control and ABS were failing. I've taken vehicle to dealer 5 times since recall and it's now over 1 year and Chrysler failed to remedy recalled defective part 68143491AA. Chrysler complaint case no. 95672952 filed on 2/16/26. Chrysler HAS in fact produced the replacement part No. 68143491AB - supersedes failed part no. above. Local dealers have qty 9 of part locally in stock and sell to public for $500. After calling many parts dept sources, I learned dealers are lying and telling current owners no remedy available under recall so that Chrysler can prioritize replacing Ram trucks traded in to dealers so they can fix under recall and make those vehicles sellable by dealers as highest priority for parts. On ice, snow and inclement weather conditions the ABS failure results in brakes locking and the vehicle going into sliding. Dodge doesnât care about the safety of their products and as a consequence risk the safety of millions of Americans daily.

Trailer King RST 235/80R16: six of them on a triple axle boat trailer. Was towing a boat and experienced a blowout on the passenger rear trailer tire, of which we did not hit a pothole or strike debris. It bent the boat trailer fender and damaged several components of the trailer. It was identified by Discount Tire that the passenger side lead tire experienced belt separation, which is a manufacturer defect and was most likely the cause of the passenger side rear trailer tire to blow out and cause excessive damage to the trailer. There are numerous other customers of this tire who experienced significant blowouts on their trailer, which poses a safety risk to all who own trailers with these Trailer King RST tires and those who travel the roads with them. The belt separation was confirmed by a third-party tire shop recognized nationally. I submitted a claim for the blown out tire with the company manufacturer, and they claim it was not due to manufacturer defect. Unicorn tire does not
