Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2024 TAYCAN is electrical system with 6 filings, followed by unknown or other (3) and forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking (2). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 6 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 5 investigation files overlapping the 2024 TAYCAN. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. 20240910FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Numerous electrical issues plaguing the vehicle. These issues pose a significant risk to both myself, my family and other road users. Specifically, the car intermittently fails to recognize the key, both when starting and during operation. Most alarmingly, the vehicle has demonstrated a dangerous behavior wherein it fails to detect my grip on the steering wheel, resulting in the sudden application of brakes and seizure of steering control. This will only happen when going 45mph or faster and will occur randomly regardless of where my hands are on the steering wheel or whether I'm turning or going in a straight line.

20240428FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

My car indicated that there was a collision imminent when there was nothing in front of me and no car within any reasonable distance ahead of me either. The car tried to apply the brakes momentarily and then stopped. This happened on the I280 Northbound Lawrence Expressway exit headed towards the stop light at the Stevens Creek Blvd junction. The ground was slightly damp, but there were no apparent objects in the road.
