Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 1 active recall campaign, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 5 investigation files overlapping the 2010 PANAMERA. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. The design of this car incorporates something called a "rear hatch drain". This drain can be clogged with debris over time, which leads to a situation in which rainwater drains into the battery hold area. There is no warning for this occurrence; I only discovered it once the tail lights and liftgate began to malfunction. This quickly deteriorated into not being able to start the car at all. This is unsafe because it creates a situation wherein the lights and battery can malfunction/die without any warning. This public safety defect also erodes consumer confidence, as electrical issues are incredibly expensive to repair. Porsche does not even include what should be a basic point of inspection as part of the $300 that they charge anytime they touch of look at the vehicle that the consumer brings in.
