VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH SUNVISOR LOCATED AIR BAG LABELS, FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLES SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION." THESE VEHICLES HAVE A MESSAGE AREA LESS THAN 30 CM WHICH DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE CONTACT LOST ALL STEERING CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

I RAN UP A CURB TO AVOID REAR-ENDING A VEHICLE AND A PART CALLED THE POWER STEERING COOLER HOSE (GMPART # 26074657) WAS DAMAGED, CAUSING THE LOSS OF THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND THEREFORE THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THIS PART IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM GM, THE PART IS FLIMSYLY INSTALLED WITH RETAINERS THAT DO NOT SECURE THE HOSE PROPERLY. OVER TIME THE HOSE COULD DISMOUNT FROM THE RETAINERS AND ANYTHING THAT HITS IT COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. AT THE MOMENT AN OTHERWISE GOOD VEHIC
