ON JUNE 10TH, TWO DAYS AGO, I TOTALED MY 93 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME ON I-93 IN NEW HAMPSHIRE. WHILE MY YEAR (93) HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED, 88 -91 WERE ALL RECALLED FOR SEPARATION OF THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FROM THE STEERING GEAR AS A RESULT OF CORROSION OF 2 BOLTS WHERE ROAD SALT USE IS HIGH, INCLUDING IN MASSACHUSETTS. I HAVE BEEN COMMUTING FROM BOSTON TO HANOVER NH TO TEACH FOR THE PAST 10 WEEKS. A COUPLE WEEKS AGO I STARTED WORRYING ABOUT STEERING. HAD TWO REAR TIRES REPLACED

I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE FOR A TURNING CAR AND WAS UNABLE TO SLOW DOWN. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS WERE SEIZED.*AK
CONSUMER WAS TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY WHILE TRAVELING 5MPH AND VEHICLE STARTED TO ROAR UP AND SPEED UP. IT HIT NEIGHBOR'S VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, A SNAPPING SOUND WAS HEARD, ALTERNATOR LIGHT CAME ON, DRIVER PULLED OFF HIGHWAY, ALTERNATOR FROZE CAUSING A FIRE WHICH BROKE THE SEPENTINE BELT, ALTERNATOR REPLACED TWICE ON 8/15/00. *CJ
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. FIRE BEGAN TOWARDS THE REAR OF ENGINE. CAR WAS DAMAGED AROUND THE ENGINE AND UNDER THE HOOD. DEALER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED A CAUSE TO THE FIRE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY NOTICED FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. CONSUMER PUT FIRE OUT. MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE ALTERNATER. *AK
AFTER DRIVING FOR A HALF AN HOUR, VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 25 MINUTES. SUDDENLY HORN BEGAN TO SOUND. WHEN CONSUMER WENT OUT TO SEE THE PROBLEM, NOTICED SMOKE AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD, NEAR THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD. THE SMOKE WAS DARK BLACK. FLAMES THEN ROSE INTO THE TOP OF THE INTERIOR. FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY CONSUMER AFTER DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED BY INSURANCE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS REAR ENDED BY A DRUNK DRIVER WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. DRIVER SEAT BACK COLLAPSED ON IMPACT WHICH RESULTED IN INJURY, CAUSE DUE TO DESIGN FLAW. *YC

VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, DRIVERS FRONT SIDE WAS HIT AT 35MPH. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. GM WAS CONTACTED AND TOOK INFORMATION. *AK
ENGINE RACED OUT OF CONTROL, NO ENGAGEMENT OF ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM, AND WHEN APPLIED EMERGENCY BRAKE VEHICLE CRASHED, COULD HAVE OCCURRED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. *AK

DRIVER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A HEAD ON COLLISION AT 30 TO 40MPH. TT
CONSUMER PARKED CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM THE ENGINE . TT CONSUMER STATES WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT , SHE SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HOOD, FIRE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT OPEN HOOD AND USED AN AX AND CROW BAR TO OPEN IT TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. *SLC
