Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 13 investigation files overlapping the 2000 ACHIEVA. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. THE WHEEL BEARING ON BOTH THE FRONT LEFT SIDE RIGHT BROKE TWICE AND THE RIGHT SIDE ONCE. THE FIRST INCIDENT , I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS 90 MILES OVER, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY WHICH I DID. I PAID EACH TIME TO HAVE THESE REPAIRED. IS THIS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE? I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK. IF YOU REQUIRE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME. *JB

BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OLDS ALERO 2000 BRAKES SHUTTERED AND FAILED AT 23,000 MILES AS A GM PARTS WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEE I KNOW THAT MANY FELLOW EMPLOYEES AND MYSELF HAVE HAD THIS SIMILAR. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WITH MANY LESS MILES THAN MY VEHICLE,TYPICALLY WITH 4000 TO 10000 MILES. *NLM
