TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED AND SUDDENLY THE WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT DROVE WITH CAUTION TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED UNTIL THE RAIN SUBSIDED; AND THEN RESUMED IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE FAULTY MOTOR LINKAGE CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 98V093000 (VISIBILITY: WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER: LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY ADVISED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000. BOUGHT FOUR TOYO Z800 ULTRA TIRES AS A SET ON MARCH 22, 2003, WHEN MY 1995 NISSAN SENTRA GLE HAD 134492 MILES. CAR WAS PROPERLY ALIGNED, WHEELS PROPERLY BALANCED, AND TIRES PROPERLY INFLATED AT ALL TIMES. REPLACED ONE TIRE DECEMBER 21, 2007 AT 177988 MILES; BECAUSE OF SIDEWALL CRACKS AND A THROWN CHUNK OF TREAD (ROUGHLY QUARTER-SIZED). REPLACED OTHER THREE TIRES DECEMBER 13, 2008 WHEN MY CAR HAD 189006 MILES; BECAUSE OF TREAD AREA CRACKS AND LIGHT CRACKING ON SIDEWALLS (PICTURES AVAILABLE). (NOTE: THOSE THREE Z800S HAD IDENTICAL DOT NUMBERS AND TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, THE FOURTH DID ALSO.) NISSAN SENTRA CAR PROBLEM I HAVE NISSAN SENTRA AND HAD A PROBLEM ON JAN 9, 2008. MY WIFE DRIVING CAR AND SUDDENLY BOTH AIRBAG BLOW OUT AND BROKE FRONT WINDSHIELD GLASS. AFTER THIS INCIDENT I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA (1800NISSAN1) AND SUBMITTED COMPLIANT (FILE# 6000221), AFTER TWO WEEK (JAN 21) NISSAN SEND SOME ONE TO INSPECT MY CAR. DURING THIS TIME I CALL NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET THEM REPAIR CAR OR GIVE ME RENTAL CAR BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE INVESTIGATING PROBLEM SO THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. I ALSO CALLED STATE FARM AND SUBMITTED CLAIM FOR THIS ACCIDENT. BUT SINCE THIS IS NISSAN CAR DEFECT I WOULD LIKE NISSAN TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. CURRENTLY I DON'T HAVE ANY CAR AND I DID NOT FIX MY CAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT NISSAN WILL FIX THIS. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE THE CONTACT WAS STILL DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE VEHICLE FILLED UP WITH RESIDUE FROM THE AIR BAGS. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES ON BOTH HANDS AND HER LEFT BREAST. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 245,801.

THERE IS RECALL ON THE WIPER MOTOR LINKAGE ON NISSAN SENTRA 200SX FOR 1995 TO 1998 CARS. BUT THE DEALER SAID THIS CAR IS NOT IN THE RECALL LIST WHERE AS THE PROBLEM IS ABSOLUTELY SAME AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL 98V093000. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO SUSTAIN MAJOR INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME. THE HEAT SHIELD OVER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RUSTED PREMATURELY AND FELL OFF. THE DEALERS CLAIMED THIS PART WAS NOT ESSENTIAL AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. STILL CONCERNED ME. I ALSO HAVE HAD AN UNUSUAL HISTORY OF ELECTRICAL RELATED PROBLEMS, TO WIT: (1) POWER WINDOW SWITCH REPLACED TWICE; (2) INSTRUMENT LIGHT SWITCH; (3) FAN SWITCH; (4) ALTERNATOR, (5) BOTH ENGINE COOLING FANS. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, RESULTING IN INJURIES. ALSO, VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD 2 GOVENOR DRIVE GEARS STRIPPED IN LESS THAN A YEARS TIME. BOTH WERE COMPLETELY STRIPPED OF ANY THREADS ON PLASTIC GEAR. ITS STRANGE THAT THIS SHOULD HAPPEN TWICE IN LESS THAN A 9 MO. PERIOD.*AK
I PURCHASED A NEW THROTTLE CABLE FROM PIERCES NISSAN ON 10/01 AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF. I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS VERY STIFF AND HARD TO MOVE. BEFORE STARTING MY CAR I CHECKED OPERATION OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE WAS SLOW TO RETURN TO IDLE POSITION. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I NOTICED THAT THE NEW CABLE WAS LUBRICATED WITH A VERY HEAVY GREASE THAT IMPEDED MOVEMENT OF THE CABLE. DURING THE WINTER MONTHS THAT FOLLOWED THE THROTTLE RETURNED TO IDLE SO SLOW THAT IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR. DURING THE THESE PAST SUMMER MONTHS IT IS SOMEWHAT BETTER, BUT STILL SLUGGISH TO RETURN. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE ORDERED THREE REPLACEMENT CABLES, ALL WITH THE SAME PROPLEM. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN MOTOR COMPANY TWICE WITH NO RESULTS. I FEEL THAT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY CAR WITH THE WINTER MONTHS APPROACHING. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.*AK
GAS DOOR NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THIS IS DUE TO THE GAS DOOR GETTING STUCK AND CANNOT OPEN. NOW IT IS STUCK OPEN AND WON'T SHUT.*AK
