Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2015 OUTLANDER is power train with 24 filings, followed by engine (12) and unknown or other (6). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 4 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 14 investigation files overlapping the 2015 OUTLANDER. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I have Goodyear tires Eagle LS P225 55R18, three of them that the tread is separating on all of them. The TIN for all three of them is 4921, the second week of December, 2021. All three of the tires have cracks on the inside of the tread and the car is lurching side to side while driving down the road. This is a severe condition and all the tires need to be replaced. Most likely the tires were either bought in New York or Washington state. My name is [XXX] , my phone number is [XXX] and I live in Santa Rosa California. This condition has been confirmed by my mechanic and two tire stores. If you would like further evidence of cracking between the treads or possibly separation evidence when the tires are off the car, please let me know. I must have them replaced ASAP. This is not a failure or a recall for the car, only for the tires. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Engine and yes available for inspection. I had been driving then all of a sudden the Service Engine Immediately light started rapidly flashing and the car would hardly go. Turned around parked at home, towed to dealership where they said the engine compressor was not working and I would need a rebuilt engine for over $5000. Towed it back home and now looking for a new car. There were no warning lights or any other symptoms prior to this happening. It was an all of a sudden warning. If I had been on the freeway, my safety would have been at risk as it just died without warning.
The cvt transmissions are terrible and fail

While driving in the city limits around 35 miles an hour I had to stop abruptly to avoid a collision with a driver who didnât stop at the intersection. I had to come to a complete stop for this driver. When I took my foot off of the brake and tried to drive on my car would not move. I had to shift gears put it in park and try again. I could hear the engine responding but the car wouldnât move. When it did start to move forward slowly it was shaking very hard and I was only able to get 10 miles an hour. I had to be towed. And I kept thinking what if I was on the highway that day where the speed limit is 75mph.

It has hesitation when accelerating and stuttering while driving. its throwing a code PO868 for the transmission. It's a cvt transmission, and it feels like a transmission slip at times, or it takes off then hesitates then goes again. Other times it stutters. Its a risk because now our chances of being in a accident increases. Until it threw the code there were no issues then all the sudden there was the issue.
I went to get my emissions check. I was informed that the rpms were not registering. After getting the car diagnosed I was informed that P1590 Mitsubishi Code - TCM To ECM Communication Error In Torque Reduction Request is the problem.

THE SALESPERSON, STEVE FARRELL ASKED, 'WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLE DID WE WANT?' I TOLD HIM MY FIRST CHOICE WAS A 4 CYL WITH A THIRD-ROW SEATING, WITH AN MPG RATING IN THE MID TO UPPER 20'S AND NOT A BIG BODY THAT MY WIFE WOULD BE DRIVING MOST OF THE TIME. HE SHOWED A GRAY 2016 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER SE (THE VEHICLE WE FINANCED). MY WIFE GOT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND ON A FEW CITY STREETS SURROUNDING THE DEALERSHIP. I ASKED MR. FARRELL ABOUT THE MILEAGE (34,421) THIS VEHICLE ALREADY HAD. HE STATED, 'THESE WERE HWY MILES.' I INFORMED HIM THAT THE MILEAGE WAS AGREEABLE SINCE I KNEW MY WIFE NEEDED A VEHICLE THAT WAS GOOD FOR HWY DRIVING. AFTER FINANCING THIS VEHICLE, I RETURNED TO WALKER FOR OIL CHANGES, MULTI-POINT INSPECTIONS AND A COUPLE OF MITSUBISHI RECALLS. ONE OF THE RECALLS WAS FOR THE DOOR LOCKS NOT
