TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1997 MERCURY SABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN BRAKING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD INCREASE ABNORMALLY. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD SLIGHTLY PULL FORWARD AS IF IT WERE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. AS THE CONTACT WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP, SHE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MECHANIC DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1997 MERCURY SABLE. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO AND DESTROYED THE CONTACT'S GARAGE DOOR. HE STATED THAT THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE WAS TO PLACE IT IN PARK. THE FIRE IN MY 1997 MERCURY SABLE STATION WAGON STARTED WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 11HOURS BEFORE THE FIRE STARTED ABOUT 1:30 AM . THE RIGHT REAR SECTION SHOWED THE MOST DAMAGE BUT THE ENTIRE INTERIOR WAS DESTROYED. THE GAS TANK WAS FULL BUT DID NOT EXPLODE. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS UNKNOWN. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARED THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS.*AK

SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON JUN 21, 2 000 WHEN VEHICLE DROVE OVER A SMALL BUMP. PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON BOTH INSTANCES. DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG CAUSED BRUISES TO DRIVER'S LEFT ARM AND STOMACH. DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
